History 2003-2005
2003
- New Station 51 and Station 52 signs were done by Peninsula Signs
& Awnings.
- In February new exhaust vents and fans were finally installed in
Station 52.
Gary Bandy donated a 1927 Graha Fire Truck to the District to be
used at parades and other events.
- In June Volunteers took blood pressure checks and handed out
pamphlets at the Community Garage Sale at the Community Center.
- Chief Ben Cooper and Lt Dan Dickson took a class to become EVAP
Instructor.
- John Morgan resigned as Commissioner and George Eims was
appointed to the vacancy.
- In September Keith Robbins joined the District as a Volunteer
Paramedic.
- New SCBA's from FEMA were gotten in November.
- New pagers and 7 netro fitted SCBA were purchased in December.
- Barb Knoepfle and Shawn Moos went to the EMT class.
2004
- In January a new side exit door was installed at Station 52.
- New overhead doors at Station 52 by Admiralty Overhead Doors
were installed for$6,086.25.
- Fire Wise was started in this District and other Districts.
- File of Life was also started in the District.
- In May Klaus Hintennayr joined and became an EMT.
- Red card class started to be able to help the DNR fight
Wildland Fires.
- In July Bob Rhoads was appointed Assistant Chief.
- Kevin Byland joined the District in September.
- A grant from Homeland Security was received for 5 vehicle
and 7 portable radios.
- The new Mission Statement was made.
- In October Debi Hammon resigned as EMS Captain.
- A new Supply Officer was appointed, Esther Johnson.
- Keith Robbins resigned as the volunteer Paramedic for the
District.
- Medic 25 Debi Randall started with District #2 and District
#5.
- CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) was started in the
Community with several volunteers taking part.
- Barb Knoepfle was appointed to the Local Board of Trustees
as the Volunteer member, along with Bev Horan, George Eims and
Colette Campbell.
- In December new propane heaters were installed at Station 52
to replace the old ones that were not working any more and to be
more heat efficient.
2005
- January, Sunshine Propane started putting in the new
propane heater and new tank.
- New agreement with the Department of Transportation for
supplying fuel to the District.
- March, Lloyd Hamilton from Fort Garry help do a bid for
a new Tender.
- Brian Iverson joined the District as Firefighter/EMT.
- Propane heater done in Station 52
- Reviewed over the Training, Wild land Training, Rules &
Regulation and Driving Policies and made necessary changes.
- Received a I-ton flat bed truck from DNK from a grant.
- Association donated $4,000.00, to purchase 6 buddy hoses
and 2 large salvage tarps.
- May, Jesse Stewart, joined as a recruit, Mindi Coyne as
an EMTB, and Jim Koutnick FF /EMTB as a duel member.
- Richard Vaughan returned to the department.
- Medic 25 agreement was signed between District 5 and
District 2.
- Chief Cooper attended the Strategic planning meeting at
Clallam County #3.
- In June Mike Beery passed away from District #1, he was
a friend to all and will be sadly missed.
- Kathy Shaddock, joined as a recruit.
- In August the Chief from District #4 and our Chief
traded Command Vehicles. We got a Ford Bronco.
- September Clallam County #3 and District 5 started a
boundary drop from Knapp Road# 3 to Mile marker 278, #5 on
Hwy 101.
- Chief Cooper was appointed to head the Jefferson County
Fire Mobilization as Chief Kier from District #3 resigned.
- Kevin Bylund attend the training Crunch Time in Gig
Harbor.
- October started researching the Knox Box system for
business in this District, and homeowners making it easier
to get to them in case of an emergency.
- Medic 13 dissolved its contracts with all the Districts
and will no longer be on December31st.
- There was a discussion of 2 mobile repeaters and a big
antenna at Station 52 to help incase of a big disaster.
- A book was made by Esther Johnson to give to new members
of the department with Rules & Regulations, History of the
District, and Harassment Policy for orientation to the
Department.
- November, Klaus Hintermayr was appointed Radio Tech and
will make sure all portables and pagers are up and running.
- Chief Cooper attended a seminar on "How to Deal with
Difficult People".
- We received word from FEMA about the grant for new
tender and were told we did not receive the money for this
year.
- Received 3rd place in the Excellence Management
Competition. for 2005.
- December, a Rapid Intervention Team class was held in
Castle Rock and Ben Cooper, Dan Dickson, Kevin Bylund and
Shawn Moos attended.
- Kevin Bylund was elected as the Volunteer Member to the
Local Board of Trustees.
- New ALS agreements were signed with East Jefferson Fire
and Rescue and Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue.
- Our District Secretary Colette Campbell resigned.
- Amber Beringer was hired as the new District Secretary.
