1998

  • Bette Avila-Muggoch resigned from the District to move to California.
  • Patty Turley in March became the new Asst Chief.
  • An EMS grant for $1,200.00 was received.
  • Dick Swenson resigned as Commissioner and Cliff Larrance was appointed to take his place.
  • The old White Pumper Tanker was sold for surplus.
  • Kelli Cooper took the PTL Class.
  • Willie Knoepfle became the acting EMS Captain.
  • In November Maynard Mt repeater was put up.
  • The old computer was put in the training room to be used.
  • A 3,000 gallon Porta Tank was purchased.
  • This was the last year of the Salmon Derby as the State would not set a season.

1999

  • Exhaust fans for Station 52 were discussed.
  • Willie Knoepfle attended a CPR Instructor class to teach and sign off the EMT's of the District.
  • A new compressor was purchased for Station 52.
  • In April Corinne Dennis resigned as District Secretary and Colette Campbell was appointed the new District Secretary.
  • Bids went out to drill a well at Station 51.
  • Corliss Schbert took the EMT class and passed.
  • Ben Cooper was appointed a Fire Captain.

2000

  • Patty Turley became the newest EMT for the District.
  • Sandra Smith-Poling became the new Medical Program Director for Jefferson County.
  • In March Ben Cooper and Patty Turley took over training for the District.
  • A new generator was purchased for Engine 51.
  • A grant was received for $1,200.00 and the Seven Cedars Casino donated $11,800.00.
  • The Cascade System was installed at Station 52 to fill the SCBA's.
  • Willie Knoepfle took the Fire Academy at Station 11 in District 1.
  • In June Chief John Brown, Chief Bob Wilson #2 and Willie Knoepfle started talking about EMT's that lived close to District #5's lines could respond the District's calls.
  • Fire hydrant painting was done and good job by Blaine Smith.
  • George Eims donated 6 containers of Aer-o-foam to the District.
  • In July John Brown became sick and had to resign as Fire Chief and Steve DeChellis was appointed as the new Chief.
  • New Heartstart Defibs was purchased with the grant money that the District had received.
  • In August Jim Proctor was appointed as the new Fire Chief as Steve DeChellis resigned.
  • Earl Gibson resigned as Commissioner and Randy Okerman was appointed to fill the vacancy.
  • Randy Okerman resigned as the maintenance person and Richard Vaughan was appointed to the position.
  • In November Cliff Larrance passed away suddenly and Ric Erickson was appointed to fill the vacancy.
  • Gary Hammon was made Fire Investigator.
  • Donita French, Mike Ritter and Esther Johnson from District #2 joined as duel members. )
  • In December past Chief John Brown passed away.
  • Jim Proctor resigned as Fire Chief and Ben Cooper was appointed to the position.

2001

  • Dick Howe resigned as Commissioner and Beverly Horan was appointed as the new Commissioner.
  • Willie Knoepfle became Fire Captain and Debi Hammon the EMS Captain.
  • New Wildland Fire boots and gear were purchased.
  • New Stryker gurneys were purchased for the Ambulances at a cost of $6,340.00.
  • Two (2) new micro vents for CPR were purchased for $2,900.00.
  • New Chairs and a desk for the Commissioners were also purchased.
  • A laminator was purchased for the office.
  • New policies for the District were adopted.
  • In March new gutters were put on Station 51.
  • Willie Knoepfle became the new Training Officer.
  • The Association purchased new flags and poles in memory of past Chief John Brown and donated to the District.
  • A 1981 Brush Truck with a 1,000 gallon tank was purchased from District #2 for $4,000.00.
  • In April three (3) Diamond Point personnel joined as duel members, Jay Jacobson, Marydee Countryman and Bob Rhoads.
  • New tools for Station 51 were purchased for maintenance.
  • Received a DNR grant.
  • In June new plastic backboards were purchased to replace the wooden one, and ILS equipment was also purchased.
  • The Cascade System was also finished to be used.
  • Region Mobilization was started in September and Chief Kier of District #3 was appointed the head of it.
  • Rope and Rescue gear were purchased in October.
  • Rhododendron Grange presented the District with an Out Standing Community Service Award.
  • In November John Morgan became the new Commissioner replacing Ric Erickson who had been asked to resign as Commissioner due to conflicts in the District.
  • At Station 51 the water was finally done and a new water heater installed.
    A truck was granted to the District from DNR for the water tank for the tender in December.
  • A computer was purchased for the Chief to use in the office.
  • Three (3) new radios were also purchased.

2002

  • A new computer for the District Secretary was purchased and the old one went to the training room to be used.
  • The old 1976 Chevy Van was made into a Rehab unit.
  • Debi Hammon, Bob Rhoads and Jay Jacobson took the ILS class.
  • In February the Line of Duty Death Policy went into effect.
  • A bigger copier was purchased for the office.
  • A Command vehicle was purchased for the Chief a 1997 Jeep Cherokee.
  • In March the District had visitors from France the Soulat family came by Station 52.
  • Marcus Harvey joined the District and became a FF/EMT.
  • Patty Turley designed new patches for the District.
  • In March we had to start issuing Burn Permits to the Community.
  • A deck gun for Engine 51 was purchased at a cost of $4,254.00 in April.
  • Patty Turley resigned from the District in June.
  • Richard Vaughan painted and cleaned the DNR truck so the water tank could be put on it and finished for the tender 52.
  • Hope Roofing put in a bid for roofing Station 52 and was awarded the bid.
  • The new "Baby Drop-Off' policy from the State was put into effect.
  • In July bids went out for painting Station 52 and it was awarded to Sabelhaus West Painting.
  • Mutual Aid agreement with District #2 was signed in August.
  • Station 51 was painted by the Volunteers and after the job was completed a BBQ was held for all that had helped.
  • November bids went out for a new engine and US Fire Equipment (Fort Garry) was awarded the bid for the new engine for $168,000.00
  • The 1987 Volvo Truck, 1976 Chevy Van, 1991 Ford Rescue and 1970 American LaFrance Engine were put out for surplus.
  • In December the Salmon Derby was started up again after 4 years absence.
