History 1991-1997
1991
- North repeater was put in with a State grant of $2,325, with
Jefferson County $2,713.26 and District #5 $389.23 helping pay the
rest.
- In April the 1967 Howe Pumper International Truck and 1,500 feet
of 2 1/2" hose was surplus out.
- May Einar Forsman resigned as Fire Chief and Jim Bain was
Appointed Fire Chief.
- Bettye Avila-Muggoch was appointed new commissioner.
- November purchased a new fast attack fire truck from Becker Fire
Equipment, Casper, Wyoming for $46,201.00.
1992
- Lorna Delaney resigned as District Secretary and Pat Nebel
was appointed new District Secretary.
- A surplus Aid Car was purchased from Port Townsend Fire.
- February a new computer was purchased for the District.
- June 1992 a new Ambulance was purchased from Northwest
Emergency Equipment Co.
- December Pat Nebel resigned as District Secretary and Sharon
Carlson, was appointed to the job.
1993
- New Heart Monitor was purchased for $2,000.00
- April Shane Zerr resigned as Commissioner and Earl
Gibson was appointed in July to fill the vacancy.
- May Aid 52 was purchased.
- The Sea First loan paid off for the Ambulance.
- October a 10,000 gallon water tank was put in at the
NACO resort and an escape route was planned for it.
- November Bette Avila-Muggoch resigned as Commissioner
and District Secretary Sharon Carlson also resigned.
- December, Corinne Dennis was appointed the new District
Secretary.
1994
- January, Port Ludlow implemented an ALS program and
wanted each District to contribute to it.
- The Auxiliary donated $2,000.00 for a new Pulse
Oximeter.
- Dick Swenson became the new Commissioner with RA
Howe and Earl Gibson
- The Volunteers and Community put up new address
number signs in the District.
- The Firemen's Association donated $10,000.00
designated to be put on the Sea First loan for Aid 51.
- Jamestown Skallam Casino will donate .5% of their
profits to Jefferson #5.
- October after much work the EMS levy passed for the
District.
- Jim Bain resigned as Fire Chief and John Brown was
asked to be Chief again for the 3rd time.
1995
- In May is was discussed to put in an Eaglemount
Substation with Pumper, but it needs to have 6 to 8
people for this and there are only 4 at this time,
so it was put on hold until more people became
available.
- Purchased 10 new pager and chargers.
- Paramedic issue with Port Ludlow opted out at
this time.
- DNR Mutual Aid agreement signed again.
- Bob Minty resigned from the department in
August.
- A new roof was put on the Gardiner Station (52).
- 24 SCBA bottles and pass units were purchased in
October.
- CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) was
started and a special agency fund was started to
help pay for training and administration costs at a
cost of $250.00 for each District.
- New hoses at a cost of $2,499.00 were purchased
in December.
1996
- Commissioners were Earl Gibson, Dick Howe,
Dick Swenson, District Sec Corinne Dennis, Chief
John Brown and Asst Chief Bette Avila-Muggoch
Judy Lynn from Gardiner donated a computer for
the District to use.
- At Station 51 in Discovery Bay the drain
field and electrical wiring were started.
- In February a new ambulance modular van was
looked at for possibility of purchasing at a
cost of$51,400.
- Purchased more new fire hose.
- New Officer were Dennis Kettel-Training
Officer, Ben Cooper-Safety Officer and Richard
Vaughan Small Equipment Officer
- On February 27 a new Ford Wheel Coach
Ambulance was ordered.
- Irma Cronin donated $500.00 in memory of Pat
Dilger to the District.
- A donation of $200.00 was donated by Carl
Beatrice to use as needed.
- In April the new ambulance was ordered for
$52,751.00 along with an Interlocal Agreement
with Thurston County Fire District #9 was signed
allowing the District to "Tag On'" to their bid
process for the new ambulance.
- In May a new reader board was purchased to
be put in front of Station 52 and a printer/fax
machine also purchased.
- The training room was completed for use and
new chairs and tables were also purchased.
- In September new cell phones were purchased
for the aid cars as some times the Med Net radio
did not reach the hospital.
- Gladys Mulford donated $40,000.00 to the
District.
- Ben Cooper and Charlie Brown went to the
training center in North Bend.
- The Ladies Auxiliary donated a new sign and
new gurney for the Ambulance.
1997
- An Annexation with Diamond Point was
discussed.
- Earl Gibson retired from firefighting
but stayed on as an EMT.
- A new pumper was also discussed as to
what kind to get and prices, and the old
pumper was put out to bid.
- A $2,500.00 bid was received. A
Community Newsletter was started to keep the
Community up on the Fire Department.
- Ben Cooper and Bette Avila-Muggoch
completed Wildland Fire Training.
- In October a new computer was purchased
for the office.
- New SCBA and extra bottles were
purchased in November.
- New heavier springs were put on Aid 51
to make it easier to drive and make the
drive more smoothly.
- The Gladys Mulford estate donated
another $49,330.00 to the District.
- In December Gayle Brannon and Pam Hammon
became the newest EMT's.
An ALS agreement
was signed with District 1 and District 3
for Medic 13.
