History 1978-1982
1978
- Marjorie Pearson resigned as the District Secretary and Beverly
Pierce appointed to the position.
- George Brown, George Davis, Don Scott became the Commissioners.
- Donald Sandhop became the acting Fire Chief.
1979
- A 35 mm movie projector was purchased for use.
- Jerry Majors reported on the fire fighting gear that they were
inadequate and unacceptable and that new gear needs to be purchased.
- Sold the 1949 Dodge Fire Truck to Quillute Fire District for
$1.00.
- Don Sandhop resigned as Fire Chief.
- Bill Bennett was appointed to be Fire Chief.
- Purchased 2 water tanks and hose for $400.00.
- 3 Fold away stretchers for the Fire Engine.
- Hand held traffic control signs for incident scenes.
- Mark Lange, Chris Burbank, Don Leaky, Tom Morris, Gene Giard,
Crystal Bonney and Joe Choate joined as Volunteers.
- A 75 watt Mobile 4 channel radio was purchased for the Chiefs
vehicle.
1980
- A bid for new bunker gear was put to some venders.
- Fire Chief Bill Bennett sadly past away.
- Don Sandhop was appointed to fill the position again.
- Donald Pierce-resigned as Commissioner and Chuck Wilson was
appointed as the new Commissioner.
- Purchased a new pump with strainer and 30 feet of suction hose.
- 600 feet of 1 1/2" hose.
- 100 feet of 2 1/2" hose.
- George Brown resigned as Commissioner and Chet Northup was
appointed to fill the vacancy.
- Commissioners now were Chet Northup, Chuck Wilson and George
Davis and Beverly Pierce was District Secretary.
- Purchased with matching funds a radio and 3 pagers from the EMS
service in Port Townsend.
- Purchased the old Jefferson County building on E Uncas Road for
$8,000.00.
1981
- They requested licenses for the aid cars from the Dept of
Health.
- Purchased med net radio and pagers, (1) Mt500 2 way radio with
paging features and 2 oxygen units.
- Installed new overhead doors at the Discovery Bay Station on E
Uncas Road.
- Clallam County #3 loaned the District a first aid kit until one
could be purchased.
- The Fire Commissioners told the Volunteers who wished to join
the W A Pension Act they could with the District matching them.
- Purchased 2-21/2" hydrant gate valves, 21/2" nozzles, 21/2"
hose, clamps, brackets and hydrant wrenches.
- Purchased some surplus radios from the Jefferson County Sheriffs
Department.
- Don Leaky was appointed commissioner as Chuck Wilson did not
file for re-election for the position.
- Beverly Pierce resigned as District Secretary and Lorna Delaney
became the new District Secretary.
1982
- Jefferson County started the 911 system at the Sheriffs
Office.
- Dan Sandhop resigned as Fire Chief and John Brown was
appointed the new Fire Chief.
- Don Leakey resigned as Commissioner and Shane Zerr was
appointed to fill the vacancy.
