Garden Club /
Aerobics—Monday 8:30-9:30 a.m. To lively music, ladies soft-shoe routines, to stretch, tighten, and build bodies. Not a lot of bouncing or moves that are hard on knees. Leslie’s personality allows everyone to move at her own pace, and her sensitivity, melded with her joyful personality, creates a welcoming setting. The last twenty minutes, individuals do floor exercises with weights. Ladies (or men!) can be a part of this class at any time. Needed equipment: exercise mat, hand weights (3, 4 or 5 lbs.), and a water bottle. Dress in comfortable clothes (shorts or long pants) and tennis shoes. Cost per session is $5.00. If you are interested in additional information, call Adell Chrisman (681-7740) or Beverly Hoffman (681-2478).
Yoga—Tuesday 9:00-10:30 a.m. In a quiet, meditative spirit, one of the three instructors encourage ladies through a series of yoga moves, always stressing that each person should listen to her own body and respond to that rhythm. The last ten to fifteen minutes, the class lies down and relaxes the body totally after the hour and fifteen minute work-out. The three instructors are all certified, and each instructor brings her unique personality and expertise to the class. Ladies (or men) can be a part of this class at any time. Needed equipment: yoga mat and blanket. Further information: Do not eat two to three hours before the class and come ten minutes early to be in a state of quiet. Take off shoes before entering the hall. Dress in loose clothes and be barefoot. Cost per session: donation of $3.00- $5.00, as you wish. If you are interested in additional information, call Sharman Richardson (681-2357) or Beverly Hoffman (681-2478).
Exercise Balls—Wednesday 8:30-9:30 a.m. Leslie and the class stretch, using a large exercise ball as a prop, in order to gain flexibility and strength. Leslie’s approach is always fun. You’re guaranteed at least ten hearty laughs each session. The last twenty minutes or so, individuals work on floor exercises. Ladies (or men) are welcomed to join in at any time. Needed equipment: exercise ball, yoga mat, hand weights (3, 4, or 5 lbs.), and water bottle. Further information: exercise balls can be stored at the Gardiner Center. Exercise balls can be purchased at Big 5; also, yoga and exercise mats. Dress in comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Cost per session: $5.00. If you are interested in additional information, call Gayle Rankin (582-0911) or Beverly Hoffman (681-2478). The Olympic Peninsula Enological Society (OPES) OPES is a non-profit Washington State corporation made up of over 140 members whose mission is the mutual education and enjoyment of fine wines from around the world while fostering camaraderie among our members by conducting wine tasting events, wine dinners, and wine tours at a reasonable cost. OPES is a partner in peninsula events such as the Crab Festival, etc. Because of the GCC's central location to its membership, monthly business meetings and occasional wine dinners are held at GCC. For more information, please go to our web site at www.opes.info.
